Al Groves who had been fighting an uphill battle has gone home to be with the Lord this evening. Please keep Libbie (Al’s wife) and their children in your prayers. Libbie had been upkeeping a blog for Al’s condition here. Al was one of the more godly professors I’ve had as a student, his depth of love for the Lord was always accompanied by his depth of study, and there was never a time – even in the midst of his condition – that he wasn’t smiling and uplifting. There was this deep confidence and peace Al had as he spoke with you, either about the Old Testament or about the local news and what the Lord was doing in the world today. Libbie shares Al’s passion for Hebrew studies, as part of our Old Testament class she gives a dramatic reinactment of the first three chapters of the Hebrew text of Genesis from memory.

The Groves family is a special gift from the Lord to his people, and to our campus. Al’s memory and name will be cherished forever. If your friends of the Groves please leave a word of encouragement at Al’s site, and wheather you’re friends or not please pray for them in this season. There is no doubt in my mind that Al is standing in glory with the Lord right now, there is no more pain or shedding of tears for him unless they are tears of joy…
