After hearing end on end about how this book has challenged friends of mine in pastoral ministry I decided its more than past due to be read and reviewed. In fact if you google search it in the blog section you’ll see its generated dozens and dozens of blog-throughs.

What finally pushed me over the edge to read it was some words a new friend of mine (Bill Reichart) had shared about how it had been helpful and challenging to his churches philosophy of ministry. Sometime next week we’ll start our way through Simple Church: Returning to God’s Process for Making Disciples.

Of the many lessons I’m hoping to learn is how to be precise and clear by saying less and not more in my stated vision of ministry and my everyday practices as a pastor. Thom S. Rainer is something of an ecclesiology guru and non-profit entrepreneur, and Eric Geiger apparently has unending energy in researching church cultures and is a pastor of a thriving multi-ethnic church in Miami, Fl – Christ Fellowship. It should be a great read.
