Gospel. Culture. Many of us are unsure if those words belong together. What does the Gospel have to do with culture? Is culture something Christians are meant to resist? Transform? Ignore?

Dutch statesman and theologian Abraham Kuyper once said, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!'”

Those words are foundational to the theological approach of Westminster Theological Seminary. Yet most of us feel painfully inadequate when it comes to translating those words into real-life contexts (vocations, politics, entertainment, etc.). In other words, while we believe that Christ is Lord over every area of life, we live as though this is not true—as though Christ is insufficient.

This is the gap in our lives. Sometimes, we live with it too comfortably. The Westminster Gospel & Culture Project is here to help reveal—and we hope heal—that gap.
