In 2 Corinthians 5:18-6:2 Paul declares that cosmological reconciliation (“of the world” – vs. 19) has been achieved “through Christ” (vs. 18), signaling a new eschatological and soteriological moment (“now is the day of salvation“). Nothing could be clearer than that Christ – crucified and risen (vs. 14-15) – is the locus and means of fulfilling God’s purposes for history, humanity, and the world and creation.” Paul Barnett, in the NICNT Commentary on 2 Corinthians

I was very taken back by Barnett’s summarizing thoughts on this passage of scripture. As I prepare to deliver a sermon this Sunday from this passage I feel just completely in awe of the riches and power and majesty of the Father’s work through His Son.

Its not a burden to proclaim the good news, its an amazing privilege. HE’S DONE IT, HE’S DONE IT, HE’S DONE IT…

And He’s done it for everything, Christ reconciled us to God, to ourselves, to each other, to creation; what an awesome savior he is indeed! And he continues to reconcile us. Even though the now of reconciliation retains a not yet value to it, its nevertheless NOW. HE’S DONE IT and HE WILL DO IT FINALLY AT THE END…
