Readers of this blog will remember my mention of Bailey’s influence on Tim Keller’s recent best seller “The Prodigal God” when I wrote a brief review of the book here. I’m currently reading through Bailey’s handling of “The Parable of Lazarus & the Rich Man” in his book “Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural studies in the gospels.” He reminds me of a mix between Gordon Fee’s pastoral exegetical cares and Ben Witherington’s eye for social and cultural issues in the text. Thoroughly enjoying his book so far. Perhaps I’ll post some quotes latter this week or next…
