The need for community can be found in original creation, in our present situation, and is a need even sociologists have been tracking for several years with heightened attention. The nature of community can summed up like this: in real community we have a shared story, we share our lives together, and we share a mission together. The substance of the shared story makes all the difference in the world as to the depth and quality of the community. But a great shared story apart from real lives connecting isn’t community, nor is it community if the relationships never get outside themselves. People have to have a shared mission if they’re going to have real community.
